Which styles are worth the money? I'm rounding up my favorite timeless staples (new & second-hand) just for you!

Trends will come & go over time, & I've noticed that they seem to recycle about every 20 years or so. So if you want to make smarter purchases that will last, here are my three wardrobe staples that I think are worth investing in.

  1. Quality Jewelry

We’re adults now, can we just say no to the cheap shit you can get at H&M for $5 that turns your fingers green? great. In my opinion, timeless jewelry is the easiest way to elevate any outfit, therefore it’s my number one. You will always find me with my rings on.

Personally, I love mixing family heirlooms fine jewelry with more trendier rings than can easily be changed out over the years. For this I love gold plated & sterling silver.

Gold plated also good if you’re looking to start your timeless collection but don't have a lot to spend. I love gold plated for my everyday earrings & necklace stack. Some I've been wearing for years. If you take care of them, gold plated will hold up. & If gold isn’t your vibe, sterling silver is a great quality metal that won't break or turn your skin colors.

FAVS TO SHOP NEW:

GLDN

I have gold plated rings, necklaces & earrings all from here that I wear every day. In addition to gold plated they also offer their designs in sterling silver & some in solid gold.

Rune and Light

The Choose app (@choose_app_us) helped me find small brands & creators making fine & gold plated jewelry. Through their app I was able to find this cute little jewelry brand, Rune and Light (@runandlightjewelry). They create lived in jewelry with a modern edge in gold filled, gold plated & sterling sliver.

FAVS TO SHOP SECOND-HAND:

Shopping second-hand can be a great way to build your jewelry collection without breaking the bank, especially if you're looking to invest in more fine jewelry or gemstones. For this I love shopping on Etsy, eBay, & Poshmark. You can find some truly great piece of here.

Pro tip- I like to first start my search on pinterest, and from there I can find shoppable links to these sites.

  1. A Leather Handbag

My second tip is to invest in a quality leather bag. This is a timeless staple that will not only look better with age, but if cared for properly, a quality made one will last a lifetime. I also feel like a leather bag can quickly make your outfit feel a bit more polished, even if you're just wearing jeans & a t-shirt.

FAVS TO SHOP NEW:

Portland Leather Goods

I've been wearing my bags from Portland Leather Goods (@portlandleather) for years now, & I cannot say enough great things about them. The craftmanship & quality are top notch. Their crossbody tote bag has been my every day work bag for like last 2.5 years. I've literally put it through everything & it's still holding up perfectly.

Latico Leathers

Another great leather brand I had the privilege of discovering (& working with!) this year was Latico Leathers (@laticoleathers). They have such a large selection of buttery-soft bags to choose from. So many different styles & colors so shop, which makes them a great places to check out if you're looking for something timeless or trendy to add to your wardrobe.

FAVS TO SHOP SECOND-HAND

Over the years I have found some amazing leather bags at the thrift store. It's always one of the sections that I check out when shopping. But the thrift stores aren't what they used to be 10-15 years ago, and name brands can be harder to find. That's why I like to check out Poshmark & eBay for second-hand finds, too. Vintage Coach bags have always been a favorite to shop & I've had luck over the years finding some pretty reasonably priced ones on Posh.

  1. A Leather Jacket

It's easy to get caught up in trends with jackets. But you know what? Trends come & go, however, a leather jacket is timeless.

How many faux leather bomber have you gone through in your lifetime? uh-huh. So it’s time to invest in a real one that will last. It’s all about the fit. Find the best fit for your body.

I'm telling you a good leather jacket can be worn with anything. I’ve rocked a leather jacket many of times with a dress to formal events, just throw on over your shoulders. Shopping second hand or vintage is a more budget friendly way to shop plus there is no break in period.

FAVS TO SHOP NEW OR SECONDHAND

Second-hand is my preferred way to shop, as it tends to be a bit more affordable. I'm always checking out the jacket section when I thrift. However, the two brands I'm going to list below are excellent quality and will be the last leather jacket you will ever need to buy, if you take care of them properly. I would suggest shopping on Poshmark or eBay to see if you can find second-hand.

Schott NYC

A couple of years ago my boyfriend got me a Schott (@schottnyc) bomber jacket second-hand off of Posh for Christmas. Let me tell you this is this the heaviest, well-made jacket that I've ever owned! A true lifetime pieces that will never go out of style

Straight to Hell

Based out of Chicago, Straight to Hell (@straighttohellapparel) offers leather jackets of all style for men & women. A bit more affordable brand new than Schott, but also a great brand to shop for second hand.
