what’s on my fall wish list (& how I'm shopping more intentional this fall)

Even though the weather doesn’t change much where I live, I always find myself wanting to refresh my style when fall rolls around. I don't know what it is, but this season always inspires me to look at my wardrobe with fresh eyes (maybe because it's my time of the year to dress).
With every new season, I really try my best to shop more intentional by using the rule of 5. The Rule of 5 helps me to smarter purchases by forcing me to think of at least 5 outfits I can wear with anything new I bring into my closet, with existing items from my wardrobe. This practice has really helped with my emotional shopping & just buying things because they're cute.
But before I get into my current fall wish list, I want to pause on something I’ve talked about before: knowing your personal style words. For me, they act like a compass. Trends will come & go, but when you know the words that ground your style—whether it’s effortless, refined, playful, edgy, or cozy—you can filter out the noise & invest in pieces that actually feel aligned. That’s when your wardrobe really starts working for you instead of just filling space.
So here we go, here's 5 items that I've had my eye on for fall & how I'd wear them-
Oversized denim shirt

Believe it or not, I don't think I've owned a denim shirt in a long time. I love the idea of pairing with a blazer for an elevated casual look for the office, or go all-in on a full layered denim look. It's a classic staple for a reason, & I've identified this as a gap in my current wardrobe & a smart purchase that I'd get quite a bit of wear from.
Rugby shirt

Knit or jersey, you can't go wrong. While I admit, that the rugby shirt is a bit of a trendy buy vs a timeless staple. I think it's a trend worth investing in, if it aligns with your personal style words. Dress it up for the office with some tailored trousers & flats or pair with a blazer, some wide leg denim & pointed toe shoes. Or for a more casual look, play with contrasting vibes like preppy & sporty, as shown above.
Short brown boots

Last fall we really saw the trend shift to brown boots- short or tall. I wasn't sure if this was going to be a one-season fad or not, but it's safe to say brown boots are here to stay for this season. I've identified this as another gap in my own personal wardrobe, that's why they make my list. Current trendy show block heels & kitten heels will be popular again, along with pointed & square toe.
Camo baseball hat

Y'all know I'm a hat girly. Most of my hats are neutral colored (black, navy, tan) & I thought that a camo hat could be a fun casual pop to add to my weekend wardrobe.
Western belt

I own a million black belts, but you know what I don't own? A western/vintage inspired black belt. I want to start adding subtle western bits to my wardrobe & I thought a belt would be a cute way to add a subtle western flair to an outfit. Pair it with some cute boots & a leather bag & let the accessories do the talking. The one I currently have is old & from H&M & the faux leather cover is starting to chip. It just looks cheap, so I'm keeping my eye out for a new one.
And that’s my little fall wish list! I love how each of these pieces ties back to my personal style words, while still giving me room to play with trends in a way that feels authentic. If any of these caught your eye, I’ve linked everything over on my LTK so you can shop them directly & maybe find a few favorites for your own fall wardrobe too.
